Evalution: Question 7) Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel, you have learnt in the profession from it to the full product?
Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel, you have learnt in the profession from it to the full product?
What was the main aim from the preliminary task:
The preliminary task was to give me an understanding of how to operate and use a camera as I will be filming my final product. In the preliminary task we have tried to use different camera angles and movements, the main aim of this task was to help me to develop my skills of how I could capture scenes in the correct angles to present my clip as a professional video.

Identify 3 things you are now better with and more confident with as for filming and editing:
I am more confident when filming different scenes as I now know how to operate a camera to make my thriller appear professional. When filming our preliminary task, I did not use any camera angles which did not help me to achieve my target audience. Therefore, as seen on the right hand side, I used an establishing shot which has helped my audience to understand what this scene is telling to illustrate. However, I also used a High angle shot which I placed the camera on a high angle which was useful when filming as then my audience will be able to identify that the female character is in danger and is seeking for help.
It was important that we edit different scenes, therefore for the scene shown on the right hand side, we have used Low key lighting which meant only small areas of light was shown. I think that this will create anxiety within the audience as the location of the scene appears to be unstable which will make the audience to think why this scene is cornered in blood and why there is only small areas of light. I now know how I could edit my thriller in order to present my thriller as a professional film.

When filming for our preliminary task, we did not focus the camera to our characters which as shown on the right hand side. This mistake did not allow us to get our audience response as the camera was capturing unwanted space such as the background for this task. However, we improved that mistake when filming for our final product, I made sure that I am focusing on the characters so that the storyline makes sense to the audience.

Include 2 images from the preliminary task and 2 from final product:
This is a scene of us filming for our preliminary task and we have used a 180 degree angle to capture the two characters talking as this will not confuse the audience as it is very clear of who is talking first. However, we have no got the angle correct as there is unwanted space in the back and the camera is not focused to the characters and is more focused on the background.
This is another scene of us filming for our preliminary task, the camera is very stable as this creates a more clear vision for the audience in order for the audience to understand what is happening between the two characters. However, more use of Mise En Scene has to be included as there is no sound effect to create the story for the audience. In my opinion we did not get very much from our audience as the clip was not conventional to a genre.
However, when recording my final product, I have made sure that I am focusing on the two characters and not including the background as this will allow the audience to understand what the scene is about and how the characters actions reflect back to the audience. The camera is very stable as this gives an professional effect for the audience.
This is a scene from our final product and we have edited the characters body with an overlap of the same characters face, this helps create tension and fear as the lighting is dark and only the overlapping character is shown. Moreover, the reason why I have used Low-Key lighting is that it helps to create suspense and dismay for the audience.
Compare 3 images of preliminary to final product:

When I compare my final product to the preliminary task, I have improved my editing skills a lot as on the left I have focused the camera onto the character to build tension. Whereas, the right the camera is capturing the background which I do not need to include in my video and also I have not edited the video which does not allow the audience to respond in any way. When filming our final product, we did not focus much on the character so it was blurry and this allowed us to build anxiety.

When filming my film product, I ensured that the camera is stable and is only capturing the two characters. It is important that I only capture the characters because it allows the audience to be concentrated on the person. Furthermore, as seen on the right, when filming our preliminary task we did not focus on the characters which was not an advantage for the audience as they were confused because they wasn't able to understand the conversation going on between the two.

An important factor when filming was making ensuring that we have different camera angles and movements to allow the audience to feel engaged with the characters. On the left hand side, is a screenshot from our final product and for this scene we have Mise En Scene as lighting is very important. Therefore, when filming we have used Back Lighting as the camera is placed behind the person which creates tension and fear between the audience and characters. However, when filming our preliminary task we did not use any angles of lighting which did not help us to attract audience as it did not appear to be interesting.Windows Movie Maker:
I made a successful thriller as we planned our production beforehand which ensured that nothing went wrong and we stuck to the conventions making the thriller conventional to the genre. Furthermore, we all individually stuck to our roles and succeeded in creating a successful thriller.
I most enjoyed the filming process as we all participated and worked together to film the shots. I also enjoyed my roles which included operating the camera and preparing the storyboard which allow me to take control and film the shots making them appear professional to my audience. Our thriller could be improved by capturing more angles to reflect the characters personality, for example, the antagonist could of been filmed using more low angles making him look frightening to the audience.
Over the whole process I have learnt how to use a camera more effectively widening my skills and allowing to capture shots steadily. I have also learnt how to edit using new software, 'Final Cut Pro' making it easier for me in future. It is important that I had to know how to use 'Final Cut Pro,' as I had to edit our clip to appear skill full and efficient. Furthermore, it is important that our clip appears to be skill full as this will help us to attract our target audience.
